from all over the United States. 
*Presidential candidates had to take a stand and either go one way or the other in regards to the Civil Rights issue.
*JFK called King's wife and expressed his concern for her husband's cause.  He asked her if there was anything that he could do for her and her husband.
*He aided in King's release and this was very much appreciated in the Black community.
*Kennedy won the election with Black voters helping to supply the narrow margin of victory.
