For the most part the rules and regulations were thrown out the door to the enjoyment of the "wets" as corrupt city officials looked the other way.  It was because of this that the Prohibition Era gave Chicago a reputation for corruption, violence and crime.  This reputation found its origins in a man named Al Capone who tried to make Chicago his own.  He and his gang fought it out with rival gangs such as Dion O'Banion's North side gang and Bugs Moran gang to name a few. The winner had the spoils of the bootlegging industry to themselves and inevitably controlled the city.  Al Capone will
win the gangland battles and make
Chicago his own "Gangasta's Paradise!"
